Our Mission and Vision
At First Baptist Church of Hatfield, our desire is to become a congregation that returns back to the basics of being a church of the Lord Jesus Christ. In pursuit of that goal, our vision emphasizes the building blocks, the ABCs if you will, of being a church. To that end, we are a congregation whose primary focuses are
- Adoring Jesus Christ;
- Building Up The Saints; and
- Converting the Lost.
Adoring Jesus Christ
"And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence."
(Col. 1:17-18)
In Paul's letter to the Colossians we read that Jesus Christ is preeminent in all things, and we as a church aim to make that true among us. In our worship, our service, our fellowship, and in everything we do, we aim to exalt and adore Jesus Christ, acknowledging the preeminence that rightfully belongs to Him.
Building Up The Saints
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ..."
(Eph. 4:11-12)
Each person who is saved by the grace of God has a place in the church, the Body of Christ in a local community entrusted to continue the ministry begun by the Lord Jesus. So as a body, it is our aim to fulfill the purpose of the church identified by Paul in Ephesians. We want to grow in the faith and knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ and to help others do the same. All that we do is undergirded by both a desire and a design to build up the saints as we grow together in faith.
Converting the Lost
"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
Matthew 28: 19-20
Jesus came to seek and to save the lost, and then he commissioned his church to continue his ministry. Jesus loved the people he created enough to die to pay for their sins. At First Baptist Church of Hatfield, we are so in awe of the grace of God and amazed by what He has done for us that we desire to share it with the whole world. We want others to know the joy and the peace we have found through salvation in Jesus Christ. Therefore, our aim is to follow the Great Commission -- to share the Good News of the Gospel everywhere we go because the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation for them who believe. We are convinced that Jesus still seeks and saves those who are lost, and we proactively engage to be part of converting the lost.
